Q.What steps does Ochanoko take to prevent data loss?
Ochanoko servers are located in one of the main data centers in the Kansai region of Japan. This data center is monitored 24 hours a day to ensure that data is secure and that any issues are dealt with as soon as possible. The utmost precautions are taken to prevent data loss from any possible calamities, including earthquake-proofing (seismic isolation), uninterruptable power supplies, backup generators, and fire prevention measures.
Additionally, we use RAID 1 to mirror all data on our servers. Identical copies of the same data are kept running on two different hard disks on the same server. If one hard disk fails, the other disk will keep running without affecting your ability to access our servers. We also back up all data on our servers to backup servers, so that it could be easily restored if both disks on the main server failed simultaneously. Backups occur every 10 minutes so that no substantial data loss is likely to occur in this highly unlikely event.
Please be aware that the measures we take to prevent data loss only apply to potential issues on our end. We cannot restore data in case of customer error, such as accidental data deletion. As such, we recommend occasionally backing up the data you have stored on our servers, such as item information and member information.
